Wound healing is a complex process, with no universally accepted standard definition for "wound healing success." Current emphasis is on physical wound closure, but other key components such as therapy impact, treatment duration, and therapy cost are just as crucial. In response to this, we have developed a comprehensive, multi-dimensional scoring tool designed to assess wound healing interventions more effectively.
Methods: This novel scoring tool incorporates five components: wound healing, limb salvage, return to functional status, reduced morbidity, and cost-effectiveness. Each component has specific parameters that are individually scored. These scores are then aggregated to provide an overall measure of wound healing success.

Results:
This scoring tool offers a holistic approach to wound healing assessment, extending beyond the traditional focus on wound closure alone. By including factors such as restoration of functionality, reduction in morbidity, limb preservation, and cost-effectiveness, it ensures a well-rounded and patient-centered approach to wound care.
Discussion: Our scoring tool represents a promising paradigm shift in the assessment of wound care. It enables clinicians to compare different treatment options more comprehensively, fostering informed decision-making about interventions. It also provides valuable data for cost-benefit analyses and healthcare policy development in wound management. At the conference, we aim to demonstrate its application by evaluating a range of wound healing interventions presented. Future work will involve validating this scoring tool in large-scale, multicenter studies, with the goal of it becoming a universal standard for assessing wound healing success. This tool promises a more effective, patient-centered, and economically sustainable approach to wound care.
